Hello! Happy Tuesday Tutorial Day!!
Last month a guy at church asked me to make his wife a Valentine's Day card. So I was asking him what she liked, favorite color, favorite flower, etc. He said she liked Daisy's and Calla Lilies. So I went to Clear Dollar Stamps and found the perfect stamp with Calla Lilies on it...Easter Blessings. I also found that it has an SVG file to go with it so you don't have to cut the flowers out by hand but can let your die cutting machine do all the work. I decided to make her Valentine card with a daisy and save the Calla Lily card for Mother's Day.
In looking for ideas I ran across this blog, Dana's Inspirations, where she makes 3D Calla Lilies and they were SUPER simple. So I thought I would make some to add as 3D embellishment to my card. Which then got me playing with the stamp set and using it in different ways. So lets have fun and see different ways one stamp set can be used.
Yellow pipe cleaners
White Cardstock (Bazzill - white)
Patterned Paper (My Mind's Eye Confetti - Cousins & Girlfriends)
Oval cutter and shape for background (I used my Cricut with Basic George and Elegant Edges Cartridge)
1 1/4 inch circle punch
White Signo Pen
Step 1: Get supplies together
Step 2: punch out a circle in the white paper
Step 3: The paper needs to be "broke down" so it is workable into the lily shape. I did this using my score-pal since I did not have a crimper. I scored it and kept turning it and turning it again. Do this several times.
Step 4: Take your bone folder and smooth out your circle. It won't be completely smooth but it will straighten out some.
Step 5: Fold the paper into the shape of lily (cone)
Step 6: Put glue on towards the bottom of the cone to help hold the pipe cleaner. Also put some on top of the pipe cleaner and pinch the flower together to shape around the pipe cleaner. Use a small round tool (like a paper piercer) so you can curl the edges.
Step 7: Once that is dried take your floral tape and wrap it around the stem to make it green.
Step 8: When you have it the length you want cut the excess with wire cutters.
Step 9: Make several of these for the bouquet. Arrange them together till you like it. Take green floral tape and wrap the bundle together so it will stay as a bundle. Tie bow around.
Step 10: When you are going to place it on your card put 1/4 inch scor-tape on the back to give it more adhesive support.
Step 11: Decorate your card. I used a Meljen's Designs Sketch as inspiration for my card.
IDEA #2: Use the stamp to make your own background.
Memento Rich Cocoa ink pad
White embossing powder
Versa Magic jumbo java ink pad
EK Success corner punch
Step 1: Cut paper for a 5 x 7 finished card
Base Cardstock - 7" x 10" (fold in half to make 5 x7 card) (Bazzill Pine Cone)
Patterned Paper - 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 (Scrap within Reach)
Brown mat - 4 x 5 1/2
White (for stamping image) - 3 3/4 x 5 1/4 (Bazzill White)
Yellow mat - 3 1/4 x 4 1/8 (Bazzill Glow)
Green - 3 x 3 7/8 (Bazzill Parakeet)
Step 2: Stamp the single Calla Lily stamp randomly on the white piece of paper. I put a piece of scratch paper under so I could stamp off the edges of the white paper. I also only inked the top part of the stamp as I didn't want the long stems so I could get more flowers on the piece of paper. The center will be covered up so doesn't have to be perfect there.
Step 3: Color in the leaves and center of the Calla Lily stamp
Step 4: Using a corner punch that allows a piece of paper to fit in there.
Step 5: To make sure I get a perfect fit I line up the brown piece with the edges of the corner and mark with a pencil. See photo. Then I cut where I marked with pencil.
Step 6: Dab the Embossing Anti-static Pouch on the brown paper. That will keep the embossing powder from sticking where it is not suppose to.
Step 7: Stamp the cross with Versa Mark ink onto the brown paper. Pour embossing powder onto the stamped image.
Step 8: Shake off any excess embossing powder. Heat with heat gun. It will turn shiny white and then it is done. Don't do it longer as it will burn it.
Step 9: Assemble card.
IDEA #3: Stamp and cut Calla Lilies from your die cutting machine!
Patterned Paper (Chatterbox)
Cardstock (Bazzill White, yellow, purple)
Cricut - Elegant Edges Cartridge
Step 1: Stamp Calla Lily image
Step 2: Using the Sure Cuts a Lot program cut out the Calla Lily image on your die cutting machine. Use a scratch piece of paper as this is your template so you will know where to cut (don't resize it)
Step 3: Take your stamped image and slide it under your template so that it lined up to cut out the stamped image. Take off the template and cut out image.
Step 4: Color in the images.
Step 5: Assemble Card. I used Our Daily Bread Sketch #73 as inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by today and seeing the different ways one stamp can be used.
If I have inspired you to use this stamp or if you find another way to use this stamp please leave a comment with the link I would love to check it out.
