My little "Prayer Cards"

Hold on to your seats ladies because this little stamp will bless you more than you ever thought it would bless someone else!

I counted the days and hours until this stamp arrived at Clear Dollar Stamps.  The moment it arrived I was at my stamping table stamping up prayer cards.  I had been collecting all my little prayer request scrap papers, email print outs, and lists of prayer requests for just this moment. I wanted to be a blessing to all my family and friends and pray for them on a regular basis....using these prayer cards.  I wrote the date in the little bracket area, wrote the prayer request on the dotted lines, and began praying. 

When my little prayer cards were full (I stamped my prayer cards front and back), I started making my "Praying for You" cards so I could mail them to the each person to let them know that I had not just SAID I would pray for them, but that I DID pray for them.  Wouldn't that be a blessing to receive a card filled with all the times someone had prayed for you?  I thought it would be!

Here is the part that I didn't plan on:  when all the thank you's, and reports of answered prayers started flooding back to me, MY FAITH was renewed!  I was at a low point with some personal situations that had been going on, feeling like God wasn't hearing my prayers....then I started getting all these reports about how God had been answering my prayers!  I can't even tell you the blessings that filled and over flowed from my heart!  True story!  Try it yourself and prepare to be blessed by blessing someone else!

Day 2 of December sneak peeks!

Our new set, Quick Lists, is a must have at my house!  I love making lists!  Now, I do lose some of them, but the joy that crossing items off my lists brings to me is unexplainable!  There are some of you that know exactly what I am talking about!

For my sample, I made a little gift set to give to one of my best friends for her birthday!  I really think that she is going to love it!  She is as nuts about lists as I am!

The papers and embellishments I used are Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry....you can find these in our store under Basic Grey.  The cardstock is SU Tangerine Tango.

 

 

Aren't the fabric brads just delicious!  Yummy!

The lines for this set fit the 3x3 self sticky notes perfectly!

CIC challenge extended...

Hey everyone!  Its Katie here to say happy Tuesday.  Sorry I don't have a tutorial for you today, but I'll be back next Tuesday... I promise :)

But, I did want to let you know that we thought it would be a good idea to extend this week's challenge just a tad.  I hope that you have some extra time after a great Thanksgiving to have some fun.  I won't be picking the random winner for the challenge until Friday night and will post the winner and the Fab 5 on Saturday. 

Since I don't have  tutorial for you today, I thought I would share a card I made  following the sketch for the challenge.  I think I messed up my own sketch... (lol).  I went with a festive theme since that is what this week is all about.  I did use an old Stamp of the Month from 2008 actually, but it just reminds you how great these bonus sets are and you should take advantage of getting them when you can.  But fear not... Lori has a few of them on clearance and you can get your own set RIGHT HERE.  I then paired that stamp with a new one that you can find HERE - Acts 20:35

Then I used some fabulous Basic Grey (Lori has a fabulous supply of 6x6, 12x12, and embellishments to match) paper for my background and finished it off with some great twill ribbon.

Clearly Inspired Challenge - CIC2

Hey friends, welcome back to our 2nd Clearly Inspired Challenge!  Thanks to everyone that joined us for our first one and I hope we have many more come play with us for this one and all the future ones! 

If you are new to the challenge, here is a brief run down:

• These challenges will occur every other Friday

Tintastic Gifts

Hey friends, its Katie here to welcome you to another Tuesday!  You might recall that I mentioned that I was so jazzed to find out that Lori is now carrying these awesome tins.  I LOVE THEM for all sorts of purposes, but for today, I wanted to share a couple of ideas that would make perfect little teacher holiday gifts, but really they work for anyone.

I used these 3 sets for today's projects:  You're So Sweet, Fancy Flourishes, Teacher Treats

So clearly you want to start off with these great tins.  You can find them HERE.  Today, I focused on pre-packaged goodies, but if you know that home made will work, then definitely go that route... imagine your own chocolate mint bark, caramels, toffee, etc.  They would look fabulous in these tins. 

I start with cardstock that is 10" long and its really up to you how wide you want your piece.  For today's projects, I went about 2 1/2" wide.

Next, you'll want to score at these measurements.  The nice thing is that if you get these tins, these measurements will work every single time.

Here is another way to look at the measurements:  2 1/4" + 7/8" + 3 5/8" + 7/8" + 7/8"

 

I then took my white cardstock and used one of the smaller flourishes from Elegant Flourishesto decorate it.

Score this piece using the same measurements.

Now, here is a hint.  Whenever I layer 2 pieces of cardstock with the same folds, I start at one end and apply the layer, match the fold, put pressure on the next section, match fold, so on and so forth.  This prevents the layers from buckling.

 

Often times the last edge isn't a perfect match, but a) its on the bottom and b) it will be covered by the other end if you so wish.

 

Now just wrap around your filled tin and tape down.

 

Now, its time to create the tag.  Because these are based on teacher gifts, I used the set listed above called Teacher Treats.  This set has lots of options for stamps that coordinate for some yummy goodies.

 

I added some ribbon and attached my tag.  This tin is filled with individually wrapped mints.

 

Here's a tin filled with those yummy Hershey Nuggets that we all know and love.  Wrapped with THESE LABELS and stamped with a stamp from You're So Sweet set and a label from the set Teacher Treats.

For this particular tin, I used some gorgeous ribbon that Lori carries at the store and that has a lot of umph to it just by itself.  I also used Labels One to cut out my tag.

Let's get doughy... gift ideas

Hi friends, its Katie here on a Wednesday... yup... you aren't reading things wrong it is truly Wednesday so I'm sure for some of you that's good thing and for others its not so good (lol).  I'm posting today because I didn't want to impede on our Featured Friend post this week.  If you missed it just keep on scrolling down.

And now lets get doughy.  Years ago when my oldest son was still little my sister gave me a great play dough recipe.  There are variations found on the internet, but this is the one that I've always used and I really like. I love the use of the Kool-Aide.  It colors it as well as scenting it. 

Here is the recipe:

1 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

2 tsps cream of tartar

1 envelope kool-aide

1 cup water

1 tsp vegetable oil

Mix dry ingredients in medium saucepan.  Stir in water and oil.  Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until mixture forms a ball in center of pan.  Remove to a lightly floured surface and knead for 1 minute.

 

 

The dough gets stiff pretty darn quick.

Just scoop out onto lightly floured surface.  You could use even less flour than is showed.

Knead dough which is essentially just folding over your edges and pushing down - either your top and/or bottom or right and/or left sides.

The purpose is to achieve a smooth looking dough.

 

Now that we've got the dough made,  its time to fill these perfect jars for them.  You can find the jars HERE.

I used circle nestabilities to cut out both the mat and the white piece.

Here is a picture of the jars once they were filled.  I filled 3 but there is plenty in this recipe to fill minimum 6 jars worth. 

 

Here are the 3 stamp sets that could easily be used to create very cute labels for these containers.  I used at least one stamp from each set - Lip Gloss Fun, Tangy Trio, and Spots a Plenty.

There are so many ways that these play dough jars could be given.  I see them given as individual party favors, gifts in stockings, your friends children, in sets, multiple flavors etc.

I decided to go ahead and encase them in a box.  This box is essentially the same box that I created HERE, just different dimensions.

 

 

I then created my own designer paper starting with just some plain white cardstock.  I used Spots a Plenty and then took a leaf stamp and just stamped in between all those cute circles.  I used an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.

 

Measurements for the designer paper:

Long Sides of Box Bottom - 1 3/8" x 6 7/8"

Short Sides of Box Bottom - 1 3/8" x 2 1/2"

Top of Lid - 2 1/2" x 6 7/8"

I created my window with a ruler and exacto knife.  I measured in 1/2" on all 4 sides on the underside of the lid after I had attached the designer paper that I stamped. Cut the inner rectangle out.

Attach a piece of acetate to the inside of lid.

 

And your finished play dough containers and box.
