I saw something similar to this online while I was browsing which reminded me of the Petal Box that I've made in the past. So simple and easy to do.
Here is my "manly" version. All you need is some sort of circle cutter, pretty paper, some pretty stamps, and of course your gift card to get you going.
I hate to say it, but I always change things as I go along so most of the time I'm missing certain items in my first picture. But... the main things are in there.
You've seen the card holder above and I'll show you a slightly different one and I used the stamp sets shown in the picture: Baked for you Tags and Gift Labels. But I also used a set called Old Time Christmas too.
Ok, so here we go:
You will need the 3 pieces of cardstock or designer paper. The largest being your base. I chose to use one of my all time faves... Basic Grey Wassail.
Here is a picture of that ever annoying 1/16's
Then you will need 4 scalloped circles. I used the largest scallop in the large set from Spellbinders
NOTE... make sure when you fold your scallop that you do it this specific way. It makes a different in the measurement.
You want the fold to be in the center of the scallop. Entire scallop circle will fold in half perfectly, it just depends on which scallops you match up.
I adhered my smallest piece of cardstock to the middle size and placed my gift card where I wanted it. I then made a pencil mark to help guide me when I used my punch.
I used a Stampin Up punch to create my flaps, but there is no reason why you couldn't just use a tiny bit of adhesive to hold your card in place. Or you can also cut your own slits in the corners.
This is what it looks like after I placed all 3 layers together.
Next fold all your scallop circles in half following my NOTE above.
Use bone folder to create a nice crease.
Apply adhesive to only 1/2 of the scallop circle on the inside.
View from the front.
View from the back. This is the side with the adhesive.
Add one and keep going. Front view.
Back view. As you can see there is a slight gap, but I chose to cover this with some ribbon. You know, that the recipient will immediately turn it over and look at the back/bottom.
I have to digress here with a burning question. Are you one of those shoppers that looks underneath the muffin container, the pie box, the cookie holder etc in your local bakery? I used to work in a bakery and I would see this non stop. What are you looking for? Or what are they looking for?
OK, sorry about that (hehe). So, back to the ribbon. Just add a dab of adhesive to the center of your ribbon and lay down.
Then, I added an additional stamped layer for decorative purposes. I used the Labels 4 to cut it out. This die set is a MUST HAVE I tell you.
And your front. Just tie in a pretty bow and add your tag, which by the way was created using the Baked for you Tag set and the sentiment came from Old Time Christmas. Plus it was cut using the Octagon plain and Scalloped Nesties.
One more NOTE:
The "manly" version of this gift card holder uses a straight 4" square and the circles are 4 inches in diameter. The designer paper (circles) was cut at 3 3/4".
Open
One more time... closed. For this tag, I used the set Gift Labels for my tag. I stamped straight onto the Avery address sticker and then applied that right onto my cardstock.
So that's it for me today. Thanks for coming to visit and I hope you are pacing yourself this holiday season.
Remember, we've got the Clearly Inspired Challenge still going on. Visit and play and maybe you could win your favorite Clear Dollar Stamp.
And finally, I only have 2 words left to type:
(Go check out the store. You only have a handful more days to take advantage of this great treat!)
Ok, well 2 words in bold. This is Katie signing off for Clearly iStamp.
Other items used: CTMH paper, SU! punch, ribbon, cricut expression, George cartridge
Very cool! Anytime you want to send me one of these with a loaded gift card I'd be much obliged! ;-)
