Day 0 of April Sneak Peeks!

This is so exciting, we just had to give this news its own day for sneak peeks!

Clear Dollar Stamps announces our

Clearly Coordinating Collection

of cardstocks, ribbons, tombow markers, and more to come!

What is the most difficult part of buying off the internet? The big question: will it match when it gets here? Well, we have taken that guess work out of it for you. We have done all the coordinating and matching, so all you have to do is order and enjoy!

Our first line that we are introducing is Summer Fun!

The colors in this line are Lime Juice, Sweet Pea, Still Waters, Turquoise Gem, Bubble Gum, Tickled Pink, Cherry Go Round, Tangelo Smoothie, Grape Jelly, and Bee Pollen (yellow orange, but you can't see the word)! Don't those just sound yummy?

Our cardstocks are solid color core, color all the way through, and are lightweight (67-75 lb). We chose lightweight because we love to layer! You can layer your cards lavishly and still sew through them and afford to mail them! All of our Summer Fun line are smooth on both sides. In our upcoming lines, we have mixed texture and smooth to give you some variety!

We have a coordinating Tombow marker and ribbon for each color! Remember with Tombow markers you can color with them or watercolor with them! We have a Tombow marker tutorial right here for you!

A truly worthy card with a surprise

Hey friends, its Katie here to welcome you to another Tutorial Tuesday. Today, I've got a great little project that I've seen before throughout blog land, but had never made myself. I chose to create a card that would be perfect for Easter and provide a little something for afterwards too.

I'm talking about the tri-fold card that the "tri" part is a detachable bookmark. I think whoever thought of this is brilliant. I love the concept of giving something that is truly usable too.

I created this project using two of this month's releases called Jesus Paid it All and Psalm 37:3-5. Even though the month is closing in on us, there is plenty of time to pick some great stamps.

Here is your basic photo of most of the supplies I used to create this card. I always use ATG tape as my adhesive, my handy scor-pal, acrylic blocks, nestabilities.

You will need to start out with a card base measuring 5 1/2" x 11". Due to the folding of the card, the actual card dimensions are 4" x 5 1/2", just slightly narrower than the standard A2 card we are generally used to.

You will want to score your card at 4" and 8"

Then use the tracing tool to create the perforations on the cardstock. I ran it over on the front and back so that it will detach easily when its time. Ironically, I've used this tool more for paper crafts than sewing and it is an old tool.

This is how it will look when folded (the right side will not be the same size as the left and is the "detachable" section.

Now its time to create our card front. I used 3 pieces to layer and basically decreased dimensions by just an 1/8" for each smaller layer.

I used Rich Cocoa Memento ink for my image and then used an oval nestability from Spellbinders to cut my image out.

I then used some of Tim Holtz distressing ink and sponge to sponge my edges... dab on scrap paper first before using a circular pattern to create the look.

I wanted a bow on my card so I wrapped and tied before I put my card front on to my base. When you do it this way you don't have to worry about placement because you can move the whole thing after the bow is tied.

I then cut another mat with my oval nestability for my stamped image and then placed it on to the card front.

Then its just a matter of attaching the card front to the card base. This is generally how I create all my cards and I just flip the whole front over bow and everything and apply my adhesive. It gets a bit bulky around the ribbon, but I'm just careful.

Now its time to create the bookmark section. I cut out my cardstock and again went with 1/8" smaller increments.

I created the base to match the exact size of the right card front.

I then stamped my Psalm on my white cardstock... so easy to do with the clear stamps.

Then just adhere all pieces.

Then I took my punch and punched a hole to tie my ribbon to. I opted to do this layer first...

Then I attached it to the right flap...

Then used the punch out as a guide to punch through the card base.

Then its just a matter of adding some matching ribbon.

Clearly Inspired Challenge #9 - Think Green Color Challenge

Hi friends, its Katie here to welcome you to another Tuesday. I hope you are having a wonderful day. If you recall, last week I showed you a great way to add texture and a different look by paper piecing. This week, I thought I would continue last week's theme but show a continued version of paper piecing which adds even more dimension and indeed has a name. This technique is called Paper Tole and it is simply adding dimension to an image by cutting and using dimensionals aka pop dots to create this look.

I also ended up showing you how I colored my image today. I use Copics a lot and I did take the certification class a while back, but I feel like I am no expert. I don't always use the same technique or method every time. For me, it really depends on the image and the colors I'm using that sometimes affects how I color. So, that's just my way of saying that I hope you learn something... good or bad...

So, lets get going. Like I said, paper tole is just a method of cutting and separating bits of your image to create depth by layering.

I start by stamping a layer piece and then several more images. If you need to stamp even more later, no biggy.

I can find the ink that I use HERE... the cardstock HERE... and the stamp HERE.

I color in my base image and this is a great place to kind of experiment a bit with your colors since most of it will be covered up. BUT... I do test my colors on a scrap piece of cardstock before I get started.

I started with the center and used my darkest Copic to color it. Simple... just color.

Then on the ruffly center part I used that same marker to color the inner most section.

Then I used the medium pink to color in what would be the centerish part of this section. I color in a circular motion and essentially end up coloring over the darker pink. Don't go all the way to the edge though.

Then use the lightest pink to finish coloring in this section. Just keep coloring until you are satisfied with the look.

Continue the same way for the center sections of the pansy.

For the larger section I grabbed the darker pink marker and did the same thing as the smaller sections.

Then I took a new lighter pink marker and colored in the rest of the section. I only used 2 markers for this part of the petal.

For the leaves and stem, I followed the markings provided by the stamp and used the darkest marker and followed the lines.

Then I took the medium green and just accented along the sections of the darker marker. No rhyme or reason... no light source, just going with it.

Then take your lightest green marker and color over the entire stem and leaf section.

And finally, I took the darkest pink marker and colored in the smallest sections left on the pansy petals.

So, I did all this one more time and then cut out most of my image except for the leaf up towards the petal.

Then I used some pop dots and attached them to the back of my cut out pansy. These pop dots are 1/16" thick.

Then place on top of the 1st stamped and colored image.

Next layer... at this point it is up to you how you want to start layering and how much. I chose to cut out the circled section. Remember at this point, you don't have to stay within the lines - yay!

Same process...

For my next layer I decided to focus on the bottom petal and the fuzzy edge sections.

And my last layer was the very center and the center and bottom fuzzy section.

Ooops... I did use the Nestabilities Labels 8 to cut out my original stamped and colored image before building.

Then I decided that I would keep this very simple and use the contrast between the colored pansy and the clean white of the card, but I did want to add some dimension by creating a frame.

I used the same size label 8 nestability to cut out the front of my card. I always use a piece of tape to hold my die down, but remember to "de-stick" a bit by putting it on your pant let or just sticking it to a piece of scrap paper first.

I lined up the piece that was stamped and paper toled and added some dimensionals and then placed it on the inside of my card, but used the cut on the front as my guide.

I then decided that I wanted a frame for the front of my card so I took the same die that I had previously used and the next size up... taped them together and onto the cardstock and ran it through my cuttlebug.
