Hi friends!  Its Katie here to welcome you to a Tuesday Tutorial.  Just like my title says, I wanted to share a couple of cards that were made using different options that are available here on Lori's blog as well as from the store.

If you recall or if you haven't seen it yet, Lori created a very handy stamp grid template to help you create the perfect stamped background...taking the randomness and making it easy. 

Well, I opted to use it for another purpose and for a different result.  I also created the same type of technique and design using a fabulous new stamp set released for this month called Diamond Circle Background.

Here are your basic tools that you will need.

To start out, I printed the diamond grid background onto Cottonball White Cardstock.  I cut the piece to my own dimensions, your basic A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")

 

Next, all you have to do is line up each printed line with any of the grooves, just make sure you've got the same groove lined up... trust me, I've missed before :)  Then just score away.

 

Flip your piece over and voila a perfectly even scored background.

 

Here is a sample I did using a white core cardstock.  In this case, I already had this piece of cardstock cut and I just attached to a piece of copy paper and printed.

Follow those lines and score away.

 

Flip over, grab your sanding too and create another fabulous textured look.

 

Here I grabbed my white piece and opted to ink my score marks with a creamy distress ink.

 

My next piece uses the same technique, but I've opted to use the new Diamond Circle Background stamp. This is a fabulous and large image.  The stamp measures a whopping 5" square.  I opted to stamp a 4"x4" square for this sample.

Stamp your image... doesn't have to be perfect for this technique.

 

Use the same technique on your Scor-pal to create your scores.  This grid will give you different dimensions compared to the free download... remember its all about options and choices.

 

And now for a couple of finished cards for you.  For this one I used the inked up grid from the free download and paired it with a set called Peace for the Journey and another New Release set this month called Marquee Labels.

I wanted to let you know that my photo color is off and the cardstock I used was Ripe Olive which is a match for the velvet ric rac. 

 

For my last card, I used the piece that I scored using the large stamp as my guide.  I paired it with this month's card kit stamp set called Daisy Flower Tag.  Remember, this set can be purchase by itself or with several kit options.

Product Highlight and Technique

Hi friends, its Katie here to share today's Tuesday Tutorial with you.  I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday.  Today, I'm focusing on a product that Lori introduced a few months ago which is pretty darn cool.  These clear ultrafine Microbeads are a great and different way to embellish your cards and images.

I'm also going to share one of my favorite new release stamps for the month of July.  The Striped Background is a simple 2 lined image that allows you to create your very own backgrounds.  Today, I paired the microbeads and this technique to create this card.

 

Let's start with the striped background.  Take your stamp and because I'm using Copics, I am using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Stamp in one direction... remember you don't have to be all perfect with this, in fact its better to have different spacing.  The lines of this stamp image are not perfectly straight which just makes this whole concept fun and easy.

Turn your piece and stamp the lines across again.

Then I picked coordinating cardstock and Copics to create my plaid background.  For this card I used:

• Red Velvet Cake Cardstock and Copic Marker
• Mustard Seed Cardstock and Copic Marker
• Spruce Needle Cardstock and Copic Marker

I love the fact that I can use the CHISEL end of my Copic marker.  It just makes me happy :)  This technique is all about easy.  You don't have to fill in all the white space and you just quickly run your marker between the lines.  No need to be perfect here!

 

And here is your custom plaid background.

   

Now its time to create our image.  I used a tree from the set Scenic Trees for my focus image.  I stamped in regular dye ink.

I then cut both the tree image and my Scor-Tape (6x6) with the same long rectangle nestability.

 

Peel off the bottom layer and line up with your cut image.

I used my scor tool and burnished it down before peeling off the top layer.

  

Then just peel that top layer off.

Tuck under any excess tape you might have hanging over your edges.

Now, just pour your micro beads over the top of the entire surface and shake off excess.

  

 

And one picture to help you see the difference between these beads and a different brand.  The Clear Dollar Ultra Fine beads are on the bottom and the other brand is on top.

How did I color this flower?  Take a look:

1.  I colored the white flower with my Wild Huckleberry copic marker (you could use your Tombow too if you like).

2.  As you will notice, I didn't fill in all the white space....I left part of the petal open for me to color in with my Ripe Olive Copic Marker.

 

3.  As the last step, I took my Colorless copic blender pen and colored over both colors.  This blended the edges of the colors together to look more natural.  So simple!
