Hey friends, its Katie here to welcome you to another Tuesday Tutorial. Today, I wanted to suggest several ways to add texture to your cards and projects. Most specifically what I would call "fuzzy" texture. All of these ideas are easy and fun!
So let's get started. I think one of the most common ways to add texture to your cards is on your stamped image itself. Clear Dollar Stamps has so many wonderful critter images that just scream for this technique. I am talking about flocking. CDS offers Crazy Flocking in white which is great way to start when using flocking. I have other colors, but I find that white generally provides the texture I'm looking for. And no, you don't have to have only white critters to use white fun flock.
Take a look at my example. I grabbed the Fuzzy Ducky image that was just released a couple of days ago as part of one of the newest Clearly Coordinating Kits.
I stamped this image with black Stazon ink on the Pure Silk watercolor paper that CDS offers and colored it up with my Tombow markers.
Next, I grab my Quickie Glue pen to adhere my flock. You don't have to apply the glue or the flock all at once. I do small sections at a time because the glue does get tacky relatively quickly.
Please note that I already applied my glue... I essentially color in my glue with small circular motions and then generously apply the fun flock to my image.
You have a couple of options here. You can immediately rub the flock onto your image. I push down with my finger in a small circular pattern.
Then tap of excess on a scrap piece. You want to save this stuff it goes a long way. Now, don't get scared when you see the next picture... I know he looks kind of scary.
You will now want to take your finger again and gently rub in a circular fashion again and smooth out the flock. Again, tap excess and this is what you get... a soft fuzzy look. Continue on with the rest of the body.

Another way to create some texture is by plyaing with your cardstock and water. For my example, I used Bee Pollen cardstock from the Summer Fun Collection and another new release stamp image called simply Little Flower.
Stamp your image... in this case I used the new Pucker Up ink and then cut your image out.
Then just take your Mini Mister and mist the entire surface of your flower.
Then use that handy tool called your "finger"... that one is a freebie and rub gently to create your texture. Pull away as little or as much of the top layer as you want.
When your piece dries all the way you can decide if you want to re-stamp your image too.

Now changing gears... another great way to add texture of the fuzzy nature is by using your mulberry paper. I bet you have some and if you don't you can find it right HERE in lots of fun colors. I find that it always comes in handy and is good to have some on hand.
I used a border punch to mostly punch... it doesn't punch all the way through, but it really doesn't matter because that wasn't my purpose. I just wanted the essence of border...
I then took my waterbrush and followed the outline of my punch and then gently tore it to create the fuzzy.
And now to put it all together. Of course I used all these elements on one card, but you wouldn't have to... I also added some pre-cut felt "ribbon"( the green) that I had to add even more "fuzzy" to my card.
Also a quick note on my ducky... if you notice, he's a bit fuzzier on the bottom half... this is due to letting the flock sit a while before pressing it in and rubbing the excess off. But, my point is that you don't have to have all the colors in the world of flock... white will often do just as well.
And here is my card in its entirety... and another note... if you remembered, I wrote earlier that I used Pucker Up ink for my flowers (cut) but as well as on my background. Pucker up is essentially red, but since I used it on a bright yellow, the ink looks much more pink than red.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting us here at Clearly iStamp. I hope you got fuzzies with this post... and if you are paying attention... remember this post for this Friday (hint, hint)
