Good Tutorial Tuesday morning to you. First can I tell you how excited I am.....my Marine son will be home to visit in 10 days. I have not see him since August when he deployed to Afghanistan. I am so thankful to God for bringing him home safely. I cannot wait to give him a BIG hug.
Shout out to Katie....Hi Katie-Kate!!!! Now onto our tutorial for today. Have you seen our new CROSS MESSAGES DIES AND STAMPS SETS? Well today I am going to show you some ways to use them. We are going to start with this beautiful CROSS BOX TEMPLATE SVG/PDF.
This makes up to be a beautiful box you can use for Easter, church etc.
Supplies you will need
STAMPS:Cross Messages
PAPERS:Night Eclipse, Cottonball White, Basic Grey Green At Heart
INK:Momento Dye Ink Pad Tuxedo Black
ACCESSORIES:Cross Box Template SVG, Cross Messages Die Set , Cuttlebug (cutting/embossing machine), Score Tape, Mustard Seed Ribbon, Sure Cuts A Lot Program,Cricuit Expression, Scorer (I used my paper cutter and score blade), ruler, scissors, Spellbinders Circle Nestabilites, Pop Ups (I used scotch dimensional tape), acrylic blocks, pencil, computer, printer
First...let me tell you with this file there is an SVG cutting file to use with a cutting program such as SCAL SURE CUTS A LOT and a PDF file that can be printed out and cut by hand. The file also comes with a reference sheet for putting this together.
Here is what your pieces look like cut out using the SCAL SURE CUTS A LOT program and my Cricuit Expression.
Next...you used your reference sheet with its measurements and guide lines to mark where you will score.
Now score on the pencil lines...I used my paper cutter and score blade.
Adhere the liner to the inside of the Cross box base.
I showed here how to adhere the box. When I first made a box...I used a scrap piece of cardstock and went through it as a trial run. Then I made it a second time with my special paper. I had the hang of it and it turned out much better. This is an advanced template so practice is helpful but worth it. I used Score tape to adhere my tabs so they showed on the inside of the box.
Here is what the base, lid and stand (for inside the box for holding jewelry etc) look like adhered.
Next you make the top and bottom for the box using the Cross Messages Die Set. Here you see the cross cut from my pattern paper. It is not large enough to cover the box so you need to make a mat by tracing the clear plastic cross shape that comes in the set and cutting out by hand with sharp scissors.
On the right...in the base I placed the stand inside which is made with the square stand adhered to this shape from the Cross Messages Die Set. On the left...I cut a circle using the spellbinders nestabilites. Then I cut another circle from Cottonball White and embossed it too then stamped my sentiment and adhered to the lid. I used the Scotch pop up tape to ahere the cross over the circle with the sentiment. Then I just added a piece of knotted Mustard Seed ribbon.
I love that this box stands so you can show it off.
Now for the other project for today...this idea I got from Cheryl Walker....a ribbon bookmark.
STAMPS:Cross Messages, Cross Messages Additions
PAPER:Turquoise Gem, Cottonball White
INK:Turquoise Gem Palette Ink Pad
ACCESSORIES:Cross Messages Die Set, Turquoise Gem ribbon, score tape, Cuttlebug (or some die cutting machine), pencil, sharp scissors
Cut out two crosses and two octagons using the Cross Messages Die Set. Then stamp on them using the Cross Messages and Cross Messages Additions stamp sets with Turquoise Gem ink. TIP: when stamping on the die cut...place on a darker piece of paper like I did here to help you see where you are stamping better.
Next you will cut out mats for your crosses and octagons using the clear plastic cross and octagon. Trace with pencil onto the Turquoise Gem cardstock and cut out then erase your pencil lines.
Almost done...Adhere your cottonball white diecuts to its mat and take your 20" of ribbon and adhere between the pieces...cross at one end and octagon at the other leaving a small tail on each end and trim.
Here are some other ideas using the Cross Messages Dies and Stamp Sets:
Here's a black and white version. I popped up the top white panels.
This I made a tag for an Easter Gift.
Here is the box made using the Floral Cross Colored Digi and Paper Set.
A filler idea (I used Easter Almond M&M's)
The inside stand in use with a cross necklace.
I wrapped it up with a sheer ribbon and tag.
Thank you for being a great audience. Til next time...Buh Bye.
As soon as I posted my comment I realized what a dork I am! You used the die template of course! Yikes. Just ignore my last comment or delete it for me! ;) lol!

I'd like to know how you get your digi images printed and cut out with the svg file so perfectly? Do you print in on your paper, then get it to cut out in just the right spot you have your printed image? It seems unreal, but I don't know how else you can do it? ;) Thanks!

Lisa,
Everything is AWESOME! It would be perfect for my students at St. Clement Religious Formation. I'm one of the 2nd grade catechism teachers. Would you ever consider donating this cross set & digi images so I could make them for all of them? I can only hope, but if not, I understand.
God Bless!

Thud! Wow, what stunning projects you've created Miss Lisa!!!!!! Question, I have the old Cricut that only cuts paper 6" wide...does the SVG fit on that width?
