Teacher appreciation week is just ahead!

 Hello Everyone!

Time for another Tuesday Tutorial!  I needed a teacher appreciation gift, so I tried to think like our Katie and come up with a cute gift with stuff I had sitting around the house!

Here is what I came up with!

You can give them as a group, or send one in each day, or just make one....they will all encourage the teachers in your life!

 
Purple is our first teacher's favorite color, and hot pink is our second teachers favorite color.

  Stuff sitting around my house:

Small pad of lined paper

Pad of sticky notes

paperclips

3x5 notecards

pencils

Hershey nugget candy bars (yes, I make sure to always have these sitting around MY house!)

Glass jars (these were from my yummy Easter dinner on Sunday.  I made some chicken fettucini and these are the jars the sauce came in....the label soaked off really easily and are really cute for my project.  I thought I would show you the brand....not all labels soak off easily!)

Sad when you start eating what comes in jars that would be cute for crafts!  LOL!

I had found these cute little rectangular tins at Target several years ago, thinking they would be really cute for some project!  I was right!

I decided to make one side a dry erase board so our teacher could write notes to herself on her tin or whatever messages she liked!

Wallies Peel & Stick Vinyl Decals - 7 x 5 3/4 in - 4 sheets

I cut the sheet down to the shape of my tin below:

I thought it would be really cute to put some flowers on it to dress it up, so I used my

Blooming Bouquet Dies - Set of 4

I cut some flowers out of my Grape Jelly cardstock because this teacher's favorite color is purple:

I wanted the flower to have some dimension, so I snipped in on the flower to create some bendable petals.

 Here are my petals bent:

 I created two flowers and glued them together in the middle to make my flower look full:

I decided to create a yellow center with my Bee Pollen cardstock.

I also cut my Scor-tape with my die.....I just love this feature!

 Here is my cardstock and Scor-tape cut out with my Blooming Bouquet die set.

Next peel the white paper off of the Scor tape and stick it to Bee Pollen cardstock flower.

I wanted my flower to have a little glitz, so I dipped my cardstock covered in Scor-tape into microbeads:

I thought it needed a little something more, so I got a bee to perch on my flower :-)

 Here are my flowers attached with foam dimensional tape to my tin

The sentiment Thanks for helping me bloom Clear Acrylic Stamp was the sentiment I chose for my tin.

I stamped in on Tabs & Tags Dies .

I also adhered this to my tin with foam tape.

 Next, I decided to decorate my pencils to match a tag from Teacher Treats Clear Acrylic Stamps.

This set is perfect to send little treats in to your teacher!

 

Here is what my finished pencil jar looks like!

First, I cut a decorative band to go around my jar with Scalloped Edge Border Die.

I used 1/4 in Scor-tape to adhere it to the jar.  I then used the same Scor-tape to adhere my 3/8 inch bee pollen ribbon.

 I used my Designer Label Dies - Set of 3 to create the label for this jar.  The stamp is from the Teacher Treats set above.  I used my Grape Jelly ribbon to hide the threads of the jar and top with a bow :-)

 I added some clear glass marbles to the bottom of the jar to hold the pencils in place:

 Next, it is time to cut the butterflies to go on the top of my pencils with

I also cut my Scor-tape out with my die....I am going to add some more Ultra Fine Microbeads - Clear!

 I wanted a little more bling, so I added some Stickles Glitter glue!

 The butterflies are attached to the pencil with 1/4 inch Scor-tape.

 Next, I decided I needed a little caddy for some paperclips, sticky pads, and 3x5 notecards using the same supplies as above:

 Here is how I made my caddy out of 3x3 clear boxes.

First, I cut 1/2 inch from the top of the the card box (1/2 inch into the 3x3 space).

Assemble the rest of the box as normal.

 Next, take your 1/4 inch Scor-tape and glue all the boxes together.

 Top view looking down in to all of the compartments.

 Here is my notepad that I used my Scalloped Border dies and Tabs and Tags die sets to embellish!

Something so simple, makes it so cute!

 The final step is to add the CHOCOLATE!  Yes, the basket filler is Hershey Nugget bars!

Yummy!

 

 

Now that wasn't too hard was it?

Gather up some stuff from around your house and get busy!

MUMS THE WORD

Good Tutorial Tuesday Morning.  This is Lisa.  Shout out to Katie....hi Katie-Kate!  Today we will make a Gable Box for MOM and then I will share other ideas to make for Mother's Day for Mom and those special ladies in your life. 

 
Note: I got this idea from the Splitcoaststampers resources website.  I used my own words, pictures and altered it for this Clear Dollar Stamps tutorial.

Supplies Needed

 
STAMPS:Bold Butterflies, A Godly Mother

PAPER:Cottonball White, Pucker Up

INK:Pucker Up Palette Ink Pad

ACCESSORIES:Bold Butterflies Die Set, Tabs and Tags Die Set, Score Tape, Pucker Up Ribbon, Pop Up Squares, Paper Cutter with score blade, Bone Folder, Sharp scissors, Small round corner punch, 1/4" hole punch

 
Take your 8 1/2 x 11 Cottonball White and stamp entirely with your stamp alternating rightside and upside down so it won't matter what direction it is in when you use the paper.  

 

 Now score starting on the 11" side at 1/2, 3 1/2, 5 3/4 and 8 3/4 (you cannot really see my score lines)

 

 
Now score on the 8 1/2 side at 3 and 6 1/2 (again you cannot really see my score lines)

 

  
Cut along the score lines on the long sides up to the horizontal score line then cut off the two rectangles on the left side leaving the center flap..

 

 
Now for the score tape....place a strip of score tap on the little flap on the left side on the stamped side.

 

 
Place score tape as shown and punch or die cut a shape from the shown tabs in the center of them.  I used TABS AND TAGS DIE SET.

 

 
Now just pull the box together...first adhere the side tab...then the bottom by folding in the small tabs then adhere the longer ones one after the other.  On the top fold the score taped ends inside the box to adhere.  I punched two 1/4" circles and adhered my ribbon to the top. 

 

 
For the sentiment....I cut a 3 1/4 x 2 3/4" piece of Pucker Up CS and 3 x 2 1/2" Cottonball white and stamped the sentiment from A GODLY MOTHER in Pucker Up Pallette Ink. I adhered the panels together then popped up onto the Gable Box with pop up squares.

 

 
 I used the BOLD BUTTERFLIES DIE SET and cut out a small butterfly from Cottonball White.

 

 
Now I stamped the small butterfly that we used on the box onto the die cut placing the die cut on a darker piece of paper...this helps for placement of the stamp.  I stamped with Pucker Up to match the box. 

  

 

Here I use TWO butterflies, bent them slightly and popped them up with pop up squares on the box.  

  

 

 Well done.  Now you can fill it as you wish.

Sunday Blog Hop - Earth Laughs in Flowers

 

Hello friends!

Welcome to our monthly blog hop! 

These blog hops will be the third Sunday of every month....a must see for a lazy Sunday afternoon!

Each month we will have a theme which each Design Team member is challenged to interpret any way they like. 

The theme for April is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

The Earth laughs in flowers....I decided to use some "Earthy" tones and create a flower card!

I decided to create a card with our Clear Cardstock .

I've seen so many cute cards out there with clear cardstock, I wanted to have a try at creating my own!

I've created a little tutorial to show you how I've done it!

First, you will need a solid stamp set such as Bitty Botanicals Clear Acrylic Stamps.

I cut 2x2 pieces of cardstock in white.

First, stamp your image on your cardstock.

Taking a sponge, tap the sponge on the ink pad, and then lightly tap the sponge in an arc pattern on your cardstock as shown.  We are trying to create a sunset feel.

I used:

Spring Leaf Palette Ink pad

Wild Ginger Palette Ink pad

Deep Sea Palette Ink pad

Next, you are going to apply your 2 inch Scor-tape to the stamped side of your 2x2 cardstock.

See how nicely my 2 inch square fits on my two inch wide Scor-tape :-)

Place your stamped image face down on the Scor-tape and trim along the edge of your cardstock.

Peel the paper off of the face of your stamped cardstock.

Press your image sticky side down in to the Ultra Fine Microbeads - Clear

Next, cut a piece of cardstock out of  Clear Cardstock and cut it 4.25 x 8.5 and score it at the 4.25 line.  fold in half to form your card.

Place Scor-tape on the back of you image and center on card front as shown.

Place Scor-tape on a Wild Ginder 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch piece of cardstock.  This cardstock will go on the inside of the card to hide the back side of the stamped image....we are trying to hide the tape in this step.  Stamped image on outside card front, wild ginger cardstock on the inside cardfront....tape side to tape side.

It should be centered behind your stamped image as shown.

Next, take a 4x4 piece of Spring Leaf cardstock and adhere to the inside of the clear card, centering it on the inside back as shown.

Next, take a 3.75x4.25 Deep Sea piece of cardstock and score it 1/2 from the end of the 4.25 long side.

Stamp a sentiment of choice in the bottom right corner.

Apply Scor-tape the length of the blue piece below the score line.

Attach to the BOTTOM of the Spring Leaf Green piece as shown:

Try to get the blue piece centered in the green piece.

Now we have to address the ugly tape we can see through the back of our clear cardstock:

Attach a 3.75x3.75 inch piece of cardstock to the back of your card....tape to tape with clear cardstock in between:

Stamp how you made it on the back with Handstamped Label Clear Acrylic Stamps.

This way your message is hidden when the card is all folded up!

 

Ta-da!  A card that is sure to impress your friends!

Some quick ways to spice up your digi cards:

I have used the River Glorious Digi image to show some examples of ways to make your digi images pop!

On this card I added some Clear Microbeads to make my image pop!

What is so nice about this is that I cut out my image with my Oval Dies,

but I also cut my shape out my Scor-tape sheet with my Oval dies!

After I cut out my image and my scor-tape with my die I just lined them up, stuck them together and pressed in the microbeads....no trying to trim and make your scissors a mess!

You cut it just like you do you cardstock and it works so slick!

It is really hard to get this to show up in the picture, but it really does make your image pop!

This card I spruced up with a few pearls and some Crystal Lacquer by Sakura!

Now this card I put the crystal lacquer on the river...it makes it look wet!

It is really hard to see in the photo, but trust me it is shiny!

This card is laced with some flower soft!  I added some to my tree and scattered some along the river banks....it just really made this card!

The flower soft is realy easy to add:  just dab a little Flower Soft Glue and press the flower soft into the glue...super easy and quick!

This card I just kept really simple!  I printed the image and the saying all on one layer, trimmed it up and framed with a couple layers of cardstock, added a crocheted flower, ta-da....I had a cute little card in minutes!

Clearly Inspired Challenge #26 (CIC26)

Good morning and welcome to the second Clearly Inspired Challenge of the month!  This is Cassie here, filling in for sweet Katie.  We had 22 participants in CIC25, which means we are well on our way to more prizes.  Remember, the more people that play over the course of the month, the more prizes there are to give away!  Now onto our challenge:

It's all about the BLING

We want to see you use some glitter, rhinestones, Stickles, or any other glitzy embellishment to give your project some sparkle!  Here are the challenge guidelines:

-Challenges are now going to be on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, and you'll have 2 weeks to finish each challenge.

-Challenges can use any stamps or digis from any company

-Only one entry per person per challenge

-Prizes will be given away after both challenges for the month.  The number of prizes is determined by the number of participants for the month.  For every 20 entries there will be a $10 gift certificate for stamps or digis up for grabs.  (For example if over the entire month there were a total of 60 participants in both challenges, there will be 3 $10 gift certificates and 3 of the featured digital images to give away. . .that's a total of 6 winners in that example.)

-We will also be giving away the featured digi image....one for every 20 entries!

These bunny nuggets are super quick and easy for you to make with a group of kids or adults!  I will be making these with my kids for Sunday school....I think they will have a lot of fun!  You will need the Avery label 8160 (1" x 2 5/8") to stamp and wrap the bunny body.  Or I have included a scalloped wrap you can cut out of patterned paper....that would be really cute too!  Designed to cover Hershey Nugget bars, these will be a hit!

The circles are cut from a 3/4 in circle punch.  Super duper easy!

Colored Pencil and Gamsol Coloring Tutorial ~ "Pansy Bunny"

Hi Everyone!

True :D here with another coloring tutorial for you!

This time I thought I'd show you how to use colored pencils with Gamsol (OMS or Oderless Mineral Spirits) to color the "Pansy Bunny" stamp that I illustrated for Clear Dollar Stamps.
