Good Tutorial Tuesday morning. This is Lisa. Shout out to Katie....hi Katie-Kate. My family was a whole family for four glorious weeks while our oldest son visited us returning from Afghanistan. It felt like heaven having the hole family together. I am thankful for the time we got to spend with him.
Now...are you ready to make a Flower Pot Card? Perfect for Mom, Teachers, Grandparents, the garden enthusiast in your life and anyone you feel inspired to share this with.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
STAMPS:Roses To Die For
PAPER:Cottonball White, October Afternoon Fly A Kite Collection, Heavy Watercolor Paper
INK:Palette Ink Pads Pucker Up, Bubble Gum, Wild Ginger, Fresh Papaya, Lime Juice, Tropical Mist, Turquoise Gem, Wild Huckleberry, Hot Cocoa, Versafine Onyx Black
ACCESSORIES:Blooming Bouquet and Tabs and Tags Die Sets, Fresh Papaya 5/8" Ribbon , Anti Static Embossing Pouch, Score Tape, Paper Cutter, Score Blade, Sharp scissors, 1/8" hole punch. Large round corner punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Pop Up Squares, Cuttlebug (die cutting machine)
Start by making a vertical card by folding a 4 1/4 x 11" piece of Cottonball White cardstock in half so the fold is at the top. Scoring at the fold line and folding with a bone folder gives you a nice crisp fold.
Round the top corners of the card using a large round corner punch.
Using a ruler (I used a plastic grid ruler) and a pencil measure two lines. From the top of your card measure 2 1/2" and draw the line across. Then measure 3 1/4" from the top of your card and draw the line across.
At the bottom of your card mark the center of your card at 2 1/8". Measure 1" from that mark on each side of it. Then draw a line from that 1" mark on the left side of your card to the first line from the bottom on the edge of the card as shown above. Repeat on the right side. These are your cut lines. (Its okay to mark up our card front here because we are going to cut then cover it up. So don't be scared. Hee.
So now folowing the lines you just made, cut off the sides on the bottom. I used my paper cutter.
From patterned paper of your choice ( I used October Afternoon Fly A Kite Collection), cut two pieces. One 4 1/4 x 3/4" and the other 4 1/4 x 3".
Take your 4 1/4 x 3" piece of patterned paper and turn it face down. Turn your card over. Using the card as your template, line up the card and your paper and trace the sides and cut them out.
Time to sponge your edges using Hot Cocoa Palette Ink and a sponge. I used a pottery sponge. You do not need to sponge the top of the pot shape but you do sponge all edges of the skinny strip.
Place score tape on the back of the skinny strip and adhere to the top of your pot shaped piece of patterned paper.
Take a 5" strip of ribbon, I'm using Fresh Papaya, and place a strip of score tape on the back and adhere along the bottom of the skinny strip you just adhered to the flower pot shape. Wrap the ribbon around to the back as you adhere.
After adhering your ribbon place strips of score tape to the back of the flower pot shape and adhere to the bottom of your card front.
Cut out an oval shape using the oval die from TABS AND TAGS DIE SET and a scrap of Cottonball white cardstock. Wipe the oval with the anti static embossing pouch so your embossing will only stick where the stamped sentiment is. Then heat emboss the "For You" sentiment from the ROSES TO DIE FOR stamp set.
Use a 1/8" hole punch to punch a hole on the left side of your tag and tie a knot with a small piece of ribbon and adhere to card with score tape placed on the back side of the not. If you want to keep the tag in place, you can put a pop up square behind it.
Using the BLOOMING BOUQUET DIE SET cut out 3 large flowers, 4 small flowers and 5 leaves from heavy watercolor paper.
Heat emboss each die cut using the ROSES TO DIE FOR stamp set.
Take your three large flowers and sponge each one a different color using Palette ink pads FRESH PAPAYA, BUBBLE GUM and WILD GINGER. Sponging a light coat all over the flower than getting darker as you get to the outside edges.
Sponge the small flowers using Palette Ink Pads WILD HUCKLEBERRY, TROPICAL MIST, PUCKER UP and TURQUOISE GEM. Sponging the same way as the others...a light all over coat then go darker toward the outside edges.
Sponge all the leaves using Palette Ink pad LIME JUICE.
Now sponge all edges with HOT COCOA Palette Ink Pad. We're almost there.
Start placing the flowers on the card beginning with the large flowers. Put a pop up square on the center of the pink and orange ones first. Place the pink one on the card then overlap slightly with the orange one. Place two pop up squares one on top of the other on the yellow one. This makes it stand out the most. And center it above the other two flowers.
Put a small piece of score tape in the center of each small flower and arrange them around the large flowers.
Place a small piece of score tape on one end of each leaf. Place around the flowers pulling the edges of the leaves up after adhering. You Did It.
Now who are you going to give it to? And no dirt under your nails...maybe some inky fingers. Hee.
Thank you for tuning in today. Hope to see you next time. I would love to hear what you think...compliments are greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to leave one.

I can only try not to choke up in reading about your son returning. Our son's been deployed twice, and only another parent of another deployed soldier can understand your joy. Hugs to you Lisa!!! Thanks for this tutorial, your card is gorgeous! Love the bright, vivid colors! Great tutorial!

Beautiful card and a wonderful tutorial :) I love how gorgeous this stamp set is and have been intimidated about getting it because I wasn't sure how I would color it and make it look natural. Now I really wish I had bought this stamp already because your sponging it is brilliant and beautiful! I have to get it now :) Thanks so much for showing us how to do this today!
