Onesie Card Used With Little Red Wagon Template

 Happy Tutorial Tuesday morning. Lisa here. I am feeling better this week. Let's start with a shout out to our girl Katie. Hi Katie-Kate!  Today I will show you my version of a Onesie card that will go perfectly with the new LITTLE RED WAGON TEMPLATE.

 

Here is my Clean and Simple Version of this onesie card all by itself.

 

I paired it with the LITTLE RED WAGON SVG/PDF.

 

Supplies Needed:

STAMPS: Baby Bundle

PAPER: Cottonball White, Sweet Cheeks

INK:Momento Dye Ink Pad Tuxedo Black, VersaMark

ACCESSORIES: Cuttlebug Metal Cutting Plate Adaptor, Clear Embossing Powder, Clear Crystal Stickers, Dimensional foam tape, Bone Folder, Ruler, Pencil, Heat Tool,   Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities, Sharp Scissors, Small round corner punch, Cuttlebug, Paper Trimmer,

 

 

Take your piece of 4 1/4 x 11" Cottonball White cardstock and score the center so when folded you'll end up with the fold at the top and have a vertical card.

 

Now using the Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities Dies cut your neckline from the top using the fourth circle die from the smallest. (or whatever size you prefer).  After cutting (will be centered along the top fold and about 3/4" down) then emboss your cut following the directions on your machine...I used my Cuttlebug and the Cuttlebug Metal Cutting Plate Adaptor in place of three sheets of cardstock (I just got this from Clear Dollar Stamps and I love it). You see embossing gives you a nice edge to your circle.

 

Now for the leg holes.  Starting on the left side of the bottom of the card front...make two marks.  One at 1 1/2" from the bottom and one at 1 3/8" from the left side.  This is your guide for lining up your circle dies to cut the same on both sides. 

 

Just line up the outside of the circle to just touch your marks.

 

Now place your card on the bottom plates of your cutting sandwich.  Align your circle die and hold in place using a piece of scotch tape and a tip from our very own Katie Renz (take a piece of the Scotch tape and put it on your jeans and lift it up and put back down 4 or so times to loosen its stickyness).  Then place on your plaper and die.  So after you cut it will lift off without tearing your paper.

 

Here is what the bottom of your embossing sandwich looks like with the Cuttlebug Metal Cutting Plate Adaptor.

 

After repeating the last step on the right side...this is what your card looks like with the two leg holes.

 

Time to get your pencil and ruler again. Now mark at 1 3/4" from the top fold on both sides.  Then 1/2" in from that mark, draw a line.  Now from that 1/2" mark draw a line from there to the top of your leg hole on each side and use your paper cutter or scissors to cut out along the lines you just made.

 

Here is what our onesie looks like.  Isn't it cute. Now it is ready to decorate.  I'm going to decorate it to match my wagon I made using the LITTLE RED WAGON SVG/PDF.

 

Before we stamp our sentiment background...we are going to make a light pencil guide. So I first found the center between the bottom of the neckline circle and the top of the leg holes and from side to side.   My sentiment measures 1 3/4" in length. So I measured 7/8" from the center on both sides and made lines. Those are our side guide lines for stamping the sentiment. Remember to make LIGHT pencil lines you can easily erase when you are done.

 

Stamp the sentiment in the center (that you marked).  Next stamp your sentiment above this one lining up the shape of the polymer along your side marks and with the bottom aligned with the top of the first sentiment.

 

Here I stamped my sentiment a total of nine times. See how nicely it lined up. You may want to practice lining up your sentiment on a scratch piece of paper first. Now we're ready for the image.

 

Stamp the cute little onesie from the set BABY BUNDLE using the VersaMark watermark stamp pad.  Quickly sprinkle clear embossing powder over the entire image and gently tap off the excess onto a scrap piece of paper then pour back into your container.  Heat emboss using your heat tool (not a hair dryer). 

 

Cut out your image using sharp scissors going right along the embossed edges.

 

Put dimensional tape or pop up dots/squares on the back.

 

Pop up image on your card, centering on your sentiment background. I added a Clear Crystal Sticker on the oval on the teddy bear.

 

For the finishing touch I used a small corner punch and rounded the top corners.

 

Here is what it looks like when paired with the LITTLE RED WAGON SVG/PDF.  Our very own Stacy Morgan designed this adorable template. I had fun making this gift card holder for a baby shower.  The onesie card works perfectly with it.

Orange, Apples and Pears...Oh My!

Happy Wednesday instead of Tuesday Tutorial Morning. Thank you for being patient.  I had a case of vertigo yesterday and today that caught me by surprise and laid me out. Shout out to our Katie! Hi Katie Kate.

I am here now with some ideas for using the new June Card Cut SVG and two Digis that go with it great:

"ORANGE YOU SO SWEET" BEVERAGE SHAPE CARD

 Supplies Needed

 STAMPS:Sentimental Fruit COLOR Digital Image

PAPER:Cottonball White, Tangelo Smoothie

INK:Printer

ACCESSORIES: June Card Cut SVG, Sure Cuts A Lot, Cricuit Expression. Paper Piercer, Paper piercing mat, Ruler, DMC floss, dimensional tape, pencil, 1/8" hole punch, scorer

 

We are going to make a tall skinny card.  Start with a 3 1/4 x 10" piece of Cottonball White Cardstock. Score in the middle at 5" on the long side. 

 

Fold in half so fold is at the top.

 

Download Sentimental Fruit Color Digital Image. Insert this paper into Microsoft Word or your favorite software to work with. I made mine 5" x 3.79.

 

Cut digital paper to 3 1/4 x 4 1/4.

 

On the bottom of this piece measure 1/2" from each side.  Then cut from this mark to the closest corner on each side.  I did the right side to show you.

 

Repeat with the white card base. (Do not adhere yet).  Now you can stitch the edges of the digital paper if you like or leave plain.  I'm going to stitch my edges.

 

Cut out these three parts.  A larger white orange half, smaller orange half, and another with segments cut out of it. Assemble these three to make your orange half.

 

 I stitched around the edge using a piece of DMC floss then put my floss through my tag (which I made by using a sentiment from Sentiment Fruit Color Digital Image) printed onto Cottonball White Cardstock and punched out a 1 1/4 " circle then matted with 1 3/8" Tangelo Smoothie Circle. I then stitched the other end of the Orange Floss through the digi paper and adhered to the card. I put a piece of dimensional tape under my tag to put it the way I wanted.  I then attached the Orange to the top of the card letting it be 1/2" above the card fold with dimensional tape.

Explanation of SVG and PDF files:

If you are new to the digital file world, here is a quick explanation:

You buy them from the store.

You recieve a download link in your order confirmation email.

You follow this link and download the image to your computer and save (to use as many times as you want...but for YOUR use only, please!)

If you have a cutting machine that you can pull SVG files into such as Klic-N-Kut, Pazzles Inspiration, BossKut Gazelle, Black Cat Cougar/Lynx, US Cutter MH/LaserPoint, CraftWell's eCraft, then these files are for you!

You will need an SVG program to load on to your computer such as Sure Cuts a Lot.

You load this program on your computer, hook a printer cable from your computer to your cutting machine, and start cutting....it is that easy!

 I chose to focus on the sugar and spice part for my card this month and then give them to my girls....thus incorporating the whole theme!

I am using the SWEET TREATS set that is the June Stamp set of the month....FREE with any $30 order!

I found these adorable little colored notepads that are slightly smaller than an A2 cards at Dollar General the other day.  I just knew I had to have them!

With my Sweet Treats set, I decided to create little jackets for the notepads for my girls!

Here's the inside:

I just had to make my pen look like a pixie stix too!  I took some 1/4 inch scor tape, wrapped it around the pen and rolled it in Ultra Fine Microbeads - Clear.  Isn't it cute!

I covered the front piece of all my wraps with microbeads....I just love this stuff!

Clearly Inspired Challenge #30 (CIC30)

Happy Friday everyone!  This is Cassie here filling in for Katie.  Here we are at the 3rd Friday of the month, which means it's time for another challenge!  We had over 50 for the first Friday's challenge, so we are really bumping  up those numbers!  Our challenge this time is a sketch:

You can flip it if you'd like, but please try to keep the main sketch.  Here are a few of our guidelines and a few things you should know about our challenges:

FORTUNE-ately for Kids

Happy Tutorial Tuesday to you. I had a busy weekend full of grad parties and a wedding.  So enjoyable.  I hope yours was as well.  A big shout out to our Katie. Hi Katie-Kate.  

I'm gonna take you back a bit to your school days.  Remember making fortune tellers?  I sure do.  I still make them.  Just this Sunday...I made one for a little boy that seemed a bit rambunctious sitting by us.  So here are a few ideas that you can do with kids this summer.  I know you will be inspired to come up with even more ideas.

 

Supplies Needed

STAMPS:Fruity Fun

PAPER:Cottonball White

INK:Palette Ink Pads Lime Juice, Cherry Go Round

ACCESSORIES:post-it notes, bonefolder, scorer

 

 
Take your 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 sheet of Cottonball White, score in quarters and fold. (a bone folder is very helpful with this thick paper).

 

Score on the diagonal, corner to corner on all corners and fold.

 

Fold each corner to the center.  I scored first because the paper is so heavy, this makes a crisp fold.

 

Now FLIP OVER and do the same thing on the back, bringing in the corners to the center. Again I scored first then folded.

Now turn over again, back to the original side you started on.  Fold In half and crease, then unfold and do this four times so you get the four corners (quarters) creased.  It will look like this when you are done.

 

Now put your fingers in thumb and 1st finger on each side and it will look like this.  So now I am going to show you how to make a treat holder with it. 

 

Now turn it over and .....you have a TREAT HOLDER. So cool.  Now decorate our treat holder.

 

Now just flatten. This is the side we are going to decorate.

 

We are going to put post it notes around one diamond at a time so when we stamp...the images go only on the diamond.  The open part of the diamond is the top.  So place two post its as show above and open up the forune teller like I did. 

Now place two more post it notes at the bottom sides of the diamond we are working on.  And begin stamping on it.  I am using Palette Ink pads Lime Juice and Cherry Go Round to stamp my watermelons from FRUITY FUN.  I stamped the watermelon rind first in the Lime Juice then I stamp the red melon part with Cherry Go Round.  I am alternating upside down and rightside up and turning the shapes.  This looks nice when it is all done.  Just repeat this process on all four diamond shapes.

After stamping all four diamonds and popping back up with your fingers then putting upside down...you have your decorated treat holder. I filled mine with cinnamon, vanilla and blueberry Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. This is just a sample of how you or your child/children could decorate your fortune teller.

 

Here is another idea using Deep Sea cardstock.  The stars are cut from my Cricuit Expression using the Sure Cuts A Lot program.  I used the sentiment from FRUITY FUN. 

 
A 6x6 piece of Cosmo Cricket Togetherness Designer Paper makes this perfect little snack cup.  Perfect for a picnic, playdate, party or just to spice up snack time.

 
Here is a sample of how you can use stamps to make your Fortune Teller in the traditional way. I used multiple stamp sets and colored pencils on Worn Parchment Cardstock.

To make it work you place your thumb and 1st fingers in the slots and move out and in spelling out the name of the object your player (friend) chooses such as cupcake...C U P C etc.  Then when you stop they select a picture from the inside and you spell out it again moving in and out then when you stop they choose a picture again and this time you pull it up and read the message (fortune) underneath.

Prismacolor Pencil and Gamsol Coloring Tutorial - "Something To Crow About"

Hi Everyone!

True :D  here with another coloring tutorial for you.

Today we are going to color the "Something To Crow About" image that I illustrated for Clear Dollar Stamps with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.

 

The first thing I did was pick the paper that I wanted to use for my card so I could color coordinate the pencils that I was going to use. I'm using a piece from K&Company's - "TC Country Cottage" stack. Here is my paper and the items I will need to color my image. I have already stamped it onto a high quality heavy cardstock with a water-proof black ink.

I start with the lightest colors first on this image. If you do dark first, you might pull darker colors into the yellows.

Lightly color the beak, feet and petals with PC1012 - Jasmin

 Add some PC1003 - Spanish Orange to the shadow areas. (my imaginary light source is coming from the upper right hand side)

 Melt the colored pencil in using a blending stump and Gamsol working it from light to dark and in tiny circular motions. (Gamsol is a brand of oderless mineral spirits)

 Add a touch of PC1082 - Chocolate to the darkest areas of the yellow and blend with Gamsol.

 Color the flower stem and leaves with PC1005 - Limepeel and blend with Gamsol. (Remember to either sand your stump clean on some sandpaper between each color family or use a different stump for each one)

 Shade the stem and leaves with PC988 - Marine Green and blend with Gamsol.

Lightly color in the crow and flower center with PC1082 - Chocolate and blend with Gamsol. 

 Add some shading to the crow and flower center with PC1099- Espresso and blend with Gamsol.

Add some darker shade values with PC1058 - 90% Warm Grey and blend with Gamsol. 

Lay in a little grass with PC1005 - Limepeel and blend.

Add some Limepeel for the irises of his eyes and then outline them with Prismacolor Veri-thin pencil #739 1/2 - Olive Green. Do not blend. It is too small of an area.

Add a touch of shadow under the crow with PC1058 - 90% warm Grey and blend

 Here is the finished product!  :)

I kept the lay out of the card simple so the focus would be on the pretty paper and my image.

Clearly Inspired Challenge #29 (CIC29)

Welcome to a new month and a new Clearly Inspired Challenge!  It's Cassie here filling in for our lovely Katie.  Before we get into the latest CIC, let's get some winners from last month's challenges.  We had a total of 41 participants for the month of May which means we have 4 prizes to give away!

Now onto our latest challenge:

Distressing

This can be roughing up the edges or sponging up the edges.  We want to see what you can do with the technique of distressing!

Here are a few guidelines we ask you to follow when participating in the CIC:

-Challenges are now going to be on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, and you'll have 2 weeks to finish each challenge.

-Challenges can use any stamps or digis from any company

-Only one entry per person per challenge and please no back posting

-Prizes will be given away after both challenges for the month.  The number of prizes is determined by the number of participants for the month.  For every 20 entries there will be a $10 gift certificate for stamps or digis up for grabs.  (For example if over the entire month there were a total of 60 participants in both challenges, there will be 3 $10 gift certificates and 3 of the featured digital images to give away. . .that's a total of 6 winners in that example.)

-We will also be giving away this featured digi image....one for every 20 entries!
