Hello, friends! It's Cassie here to show you an oldie, but goodie! I want to show you a technique called
'Emboss Resist'
If you've never tried it, now is the time!
Here are the supplies you'll need to get started:
Stamps: Beautiful Butterflies
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (not pictured), Versamark, CDS Wild Huckleberry
Paper: CDS Night Eclipse, CDS Vanilla, BG Manila
Accessories: paper cutter, die cut system, heat tool, Clear embossing powder, Scalloped Square Nestabilities, sponge, embossing buddy
Start by rubbing your embossing buddy over a piece of 3" x 3" patterned paper to prevent the powder from sticking where you don't want it to.
Now ink up your stamp with the Versamark ink, and stamp your image onto your paper.
Immediately poor your clear embossing powder over your wet image, and tap the excess off.
Heat the image just until it is glossy.
Now, because we are working with a hybrid ink, you'll want to wait a few minutes for your image to cool and dry completely. If you don't wait, the ink will simply blend into the image.
Now that you've waited a bit, it's time to start inking your image with a sponge. Working in circular motions work the ink in from the edge to the center gradually until you have the desired look. Because I'm working with a hybrid ink, the colors are very vivid, which is one of the great things about the CDS inks.
Now ink up your edges with black ink to make the effects even more dramatic.
Stamp your sentiment, and rub off the excess ink on your image with a tissue.
Assemble your card back using a 3" x 6" piece of vanilla cardstock. Attach your inked panel to a piece of Night Eclipse cardstock that measures 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" and then attach that to a piece of vanilla cardstock that was run through your die cut machine using the Scalloped Square Nestabilities.
There are other variations as well. Instead of stamping your image directly onto patterned paper, you could try making your own patterned paper using your stamps. Here is one I made stamping my own background:
I had used the script from Pansy SOM, and then stamped my Bold Bouquet flowers in the Versamark for a more solid image.
Try different colors as well. This is a technique that is sure to provide many wonderful results. Thanks for letting me play with you today ;)
Beautiful!!! Thanks for the great tutorial and reminding us of a technique that maybe we (ME!!) havn't used in a while!
