Hi! It's Kathy here again with another gift giving tutorial!
Oh I love the fun side to Halloween. I love that you get to be a kid, be creative with costumes and eat lots of candy!! Sounds like a great holiday to me!! I know Halloween can be dark and scary but that is only if you let it. So I say let's bring on some CUTE digital stamps and see what fun CUTE gifts we can come up with!
I'm going to show you different ways to make place cards for a party. But if you're not having a party, they can be given as gifts! Or they can be used as both (then your guest goes home with something!) And don't limit your imagination to Halloween because each of these can be easily used for Birthday, Christmas parties, graduation, etc...just change out the design and your ready for the next big event!
I'm going to give you a sneak peek into one of the SVG files coming out on Saturday (10/22/11), the beverage caddy. When I made the caddy I thought "oh that would make a cute treat holder!" So instead of keeping it a drink caddy I decided to see how many different ways I could use it as a candy holder or place card.
Step 1: Follow the instructions and make this super easy and cute drink caddy.
Step 2: Make the sign that will hold the name. I used the Scripture Box SVG file and cut it on my Cricut. I liked the ragged edges on the card file so I made the shape into a rectangle. Which made it even look more like a creepy sign for Halloween.
Step 3: Print the name on the top piece using your computer. (Trudy showed us how to do that here)
Font: 2Peas Billboard
Note: If you are adding brads and decorations to the handle part I suggest making a second handle and gluing it to the back of the main handle. This will make it stronger and sturdier.
Step 4: Make the "Happy Halloween" label from Little Stacker Nesting Dies
Once you have the shapes cut out then use your computer to print "Happy Halloween" on the top piece. Font: 2Peas Billboard
Step 5: Glue ribbon around the top of the box piece. Add your tag.
Step 6: Print out two images of the bat from the Bitty Bat and Pumpkin Digital Image
Cut one out completely. Then glue it on orange paper and cut around it leaving a border of the orange paper.
Step 7: The second print out of the bat just cut out the wings so we can pop dot them on the main image. See photo below.
Step 8: Attach the CUTE bat to the front of the box.
Step 9: Add candy and you're done!
I plan on putting this on my friends desk at work for her Halloween treat!
Or if you don't want to add candy you can add a cupcake!
I used the pumpkin from the Bitty Bat and Pumpkin Digital Image
All you have to do is add a cupcake holder to the inside.
Another idea is to leave off the handle part and just use the box portion.
Step 1: Cut out just the bottom box template of the SVG/PDF Drink Caddy.
Step 2: To make the name card I took a craft stick (large popsicle stick) and traced it on purple cardstock. Glue the cardstock on each side of the stick.
Step 3: Print out the pumpkin from the Bitty Bat and Pumpkin Digital Image
You will need to print out a regular image and a MIRROR image of the pumpkin.
Cut out the pumpkins then use your printer to print the name onto the pumpkins.
Step 4: Glue your stick between the two images of the pumpkin.
Step 5: Decorate the stick and place in the middle of the candy.
Or make two of the bottom portions to make a box for goodies!
Step 1: Make one box normal size. Make the 2nd box a little bigger so it will be the lid.
Step 2: I printed out the Spider Greetings Digital Image then colored it in. Then I took a cotton ball and dabbed it in the purple ink. Then I sponged it on the white area around the spider.
Step 3: Cut out the mat using the March Card Cut File (I love this funky circle shape used in that file)
Step 4: Make the insert to hold the cupcake.
Step 5: Insert the cupcake holder. Attach a tag to the spider image then pop dot the whole spider decoration to the top of the box.
Step 6: Add a cupcake!
Step 7: Put the lid on and it is ready to give away!!
Here they are all together!
If you want something easier you can make cute decorations for cupcakes that can also serve as a place card.
Step 1: Print two images of the stamp. One will be regular and the other one will be a MIRROR image.
Step 2: Cut out both images.
Step 3: I ran my image through my xyron to make it sticky.
Step 4: Put the toothpick in between the images.
Step 5: Insert into cupcake!
The last idea I will show you is just a place card but it is a CUTE place card!!
This is what I plan on having at my Pumpkin Carving Party this weekend!
Step 1: Print out a 6 x 6 piece of Autumn Friends Digital Paper
Step 2: Print out Autumn Friends Color Digital Image to be 4.4 height and 5.089 width
Step 3: Cut out the image
Step 4: Cut the digital paper to 4 1/2 x 6
Step 5: Score the paper at 1/2", 3" and 5 1/2"
Step 6: Using your computer print name on paper. (Font: Waking the Witch)
Step 7: Fold the patterned paper in half. Attach the image so only the bottom half is on the patterned paper. (See below). Cut out the bottom portion of the patterned paper that is next to the image.
Step 8: Take a 1/2" by 2" strip of cardstock and attach it to the inside flaps to give it more stability.
Step 9: Decorate your Halloween table with this CUTE place card!
Thanks for tuning in on this month's Gift Ideas: Halloween Style. Hope to see you again next month. Until then stay safe and God Bless.
P.S. - Don't forget if you're stuck on a gift idea for someone leave me information on the who, what, when, etc and I will see if I can't come up with something to help you out!
