Hi Lisa here. Good Tuesday Tutorial morning to you. Big shout out and prayers to our Katie. Hi Katie-Kate...love you! MWAH!
Did you see our updated photos of all of us that contribute to this blog? Up there in the top right hand corner? Now you have faces to our names.
Today I am going to show you how to make a 12 card gift set using
YEAR ROUND CALENDAR DIGITAL IMAGE.
And a tote for them to go in. I think you'll like it!
So let's get started with printing the digital images for our card fronts.
Here is one page of card fronts printed out using YEAR ROUND CALENDER DIGITAL IMAGE.
Here's what I did: I opened four text boxes, one at a time in Microsoft Publisher. I made each text box 4" x 5 1/4. Then I inserted each month's calendar leaving a 1" border all around. So you will get four card fronts to one page and this is what they will look like printed out. I printed my calendars out on COTTONBALL WHITE CARDSTOCK.
Here is what your card fronts will look like cut out. They are each 4" x 5 1/4" with the calendar centered in the middle leaving a 1" border as I stated in the previous photo. So you will be left with a 1/2" border of excess on the right side and bottom.
Take a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of COTTONBALL WHITE CARDSTOCK and score at 5 1/2" along the long side using your SCOR-PAL. Fold in half, your fold will be at the top.
Now cut out a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" piece of NIGHT ECLIPSE CARDSTOCK. Run tape along the backside edges, I used my ADVANCED TAPE GLIDER
.Adhere you black panel to your card front, centering so you have a 1/16" border all around.
Color your image and adhere your calendar panel to your card front. Center it on the black panel so you have a 1/16" border all around. I did simple coloring keeping these cards simple and easy to whip up.

Copic Markers I used: C-1 Cool Gray No. 1, Y17 Bee Pollen, E57 Worn Parchment, YG23 Mustard Seed, R29 Strawberry Jam
For my envelopes...so they are not totally blank...I stamped "Just a Note" on the back from the set SWEET SYMPHONY using MEMENTO TUXEDO BLACK.
And Now for the making of our tote to put our card set in. Start with two 6"x9" pieces of NIGHT ECLIPSE CARDSTOCK. Score each at 1/2, 1 1/2, 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 along the long side.
Now flip your panel with the short side against the top of your SCOR-PAL. Score at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 on both pieces.
On both of your black pieces cut the corners off the long side that has the horizontal score lines. (You will be cutting off two 1 1/2" squares from both pieces.)
So now you have two pieces that look like this.
Place SCORE TAPE on all 1/2 tabs on both pieces.
Now onto decorating the outside of the tote. Take a 12 x 12 piece of KIWI DELIGHT CARDSTOCK. Cut into the following pieces:
4 - 4 3/8 x 7/8
2 - 5 7/8 x 7/8
2 - 5 7/8 x 4 3/8
I then ran all pieces through my Cuttlebug using the Cuttlebug 5x7 Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
Adhere you pieces to your tote sides (I used my Advanced Tape Glider).
Cut a 7"x6" piece of NIGHT ECLIPSE CARDSTOCK. Round the top corners using a large round corner punch.
Cut out an oval between the top and 2 1/2" down and the sides. I used oval label die by Spellbinders.
Now time to adhere the sides to the hadle of the tote. Start with the bottom.
Then adhere the sides then turn over and do the other side. Here is what it will look like.
Here's a side view with the cards and envelopes inside. Note: I put each card and an envelope in a 5 7/8"x4 1/2" clear bag called "CLEARBAGS". They adhere at the top. They fit nicely in this tote and keep each card and envelope clean until used.
Just one last part to finish off decorating the tote. Cut out 4 large butterflies from COTTONBALL WHITE CARDSTOCK using BOLD BUTTERFLIES DIE SET. Then place each butterfly on a darker piece of paper and stamp the matching butterfly from BOLD BUTTERFLIES STAMP SET with MEMENTO TUXEDO BLACK INK.
You will use two for each side (front and back). Put score tape all over the back of one...this one will adhere flat centered on the front of the tote. The second butterfly fold on each side of the center of the butterfly leaving a 1/4 space to adhere with score tape. This one you will adhere directly over the first butterfly. The butterfly's wings will pull up for dimension. Repeat for the other side of the tote.
Here's a front view of the finished product!
Her's a side view.
I hope you will have fun making a card set and this tote for a gift. Holidays are coming...Hint Hint.
Thank you for joining me today.
Sorry to read about the loss of your talented friend and colleague. Her work was creative and beautiful. Glad to know that you have the comfort of the Lord.
Thanks for the great stamps you offer. I am starting my own little card ministry, taking up where my 89 year old mother has left off. She is no longer able to write encouraging notes to others, so I am doing that now because I know how much her ministry has meant to many people. Your stamps have the sentiments that I want to express--words of hope and comfort and encouragement. Keep up the good work!
