Hello! Welcome to the Tuesday Tutorials this week! It's Cassie here, hoping you're ready to get crafty with me :)
I want to show you something today, that you can easily make yourself in any size you want. Here is what I'm showing you:
Here's what you need to get started making this project.
Supplies: Poinsettia Joy stamp set, paper cutter, 1/8" Scor-Tape, Gold Viva Pearl Pen, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Season's Greetings Echo Park dp, buttercream paper, Mustard Seed cardstock, scissors, tape gun, Copics
Let's get started, shall we?
Stamp out your Pointsettia Joy image using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Color the image using your Copic markers.
Here is a picture of the pieces I used ot assemble the card. I used the standard 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Mustard Seed cardstock for my base, along with various sizes of my buttercream & Echo Park Season's Greetings dp.
To make the flower:
To make the flowers for this particular card, you'll need 4 pieces of dp that are 6" x 1 1/4" as shown above.
Use your tape gun to put tape on one of the 6" long sides on each piece.
Adhere one side of the dp to the other for each piece.
This is what it will look like.
Take your scissors and snip down to the edge that was taped together without snipping through. Now put some of your 1/8" Scor-Tape down along th edge that was adhered together.
Remove the adhesive cover from the Scor-Tape and start rolling the flower up as shown above.
Assemble the card as shown above.
Here is what your rolled up flowers look like. They can be manipultated however you need them to be. When you are ready to adhere them to your card, use a tacky glue of some sort to make sure they stay put.
Your final step to this card is to add the Gold Viva Pearl Pen to the berries.
I love making these flowers, because they are so easy and you can adapt them to just about any size you need. Here are some variations in size using the same dp.
Here are a couple made using felt.
I used the 1/4" Scor-Tape to make these, and instead of using my tape gun I only used the Scor-Tape. I even mixed up the colors to give my blue flower a little yellow center by using about an 1" worth of the yellow in the center. The possiblities are endless!
Here are a few more projects made with these flowers.
This was made using the Christian Friendship stamp set and the Scripture Children along with the Elegant Accents Die.
This was made with the Snow Friends stamp set and the Elegant Accents Die.
Now you're probably wondering how on earth you could send something like that in the mail, right?! Well, you can always go the padded envelope route, which works beautifully. However, here is an idea that is sure to get even the mail man's attention. How about mailing your card in one of Soft Fold Clear Boxes in size 4 1/2 x 5 7/8?
You'll want to make sure that you secure the edges, but all you have to do is address a piece of paper that measures the size of the back of the box. Make sure to take it to the post office for the proper postage. This card will certianly turn a few heads, and what a fun way to receive a card!
I hope you were inspired today! Now go forth and be crafty!
I love those flowers. Thank you for such precise and clear instructions.
