Happy New Year! Hope it has gotten of to a good start for you. Hi...Lisa here for Trudy today on this Tuesday Tutorial. Digital Images are all the rage these days. You see so many of them. I just love Clear Dollar Stamps digis (that is the shortened term for digital images). They often have sentiments, a set of images outline and color along with even digital paper for such a value. So in the future tutorials Trudy and I are going to show you how to use Clear Dollar Stamp Digital Images. Today I am going to give some downloading basics that you can refer back to here. That I hope will take the fear out of Digital Images for you.
Today's project is the GATE FOLD LATCH CARD. I saw this fold done by Dawn Olchefske and have been wanting to try it ever since. So today my tutorial is showing you how to make this card using a Clear Dollar Stamps Digital Image.
First here are basic instructions for downloading a digital image.
Right click on download. A menu will come up. Left click on "Save Link as..."
Select the folder you want to keep your digital image in and save it to that folder.
Open that folder. Your digital image will look like a file folder with a zipper. Right click on it. Left click on "Extract All".
Now your digital image is ready to use.
Now cut a 5" x 5" piece of WORN PARCHMENT CARDSTOCK. We are going to do the Faux Wood Technique. First Take PALETTE INK PAD WILD GINGER and apply directly to your panel at the top and pull down. Repeat for full coverage. Repeat these steps with next PALETTE INK PAD RIPE OLIVE then PALETTE INK PAD HOT COCOA. This is what it will look like when done. Let Dry.
While it is drying let's get our digi ready.
All you have to do is open Microsoft Word. Different Versions of Word are going to have different looking tool bars. I have Windows 7.
Just click on INSERT from the tool bar at the top of your screen. Then select picture (mine is on my tool bar).
Now a screen opens up for you to select the folder you saved your digi to. Click on the folder and then the image you want.
Just select a JPEG image (when you hover over your image it will tell you if it is JPEG or PNG).
Then click Insert at the bottom of your window. Just make sure you have enough room to cut out a 3 1/4" circle and print onto COTTONBALL WHITE CARDSTOCK.
Now cut out your image using Spellbinders circle labels large...this is the 2nd largest one. I used my Cuttlebug. And ran it through a second time to emboss it. I used the digital image HEART HUGS.
Now cut out your circle frame using Spellbinders Large scallop circles (the largest) and Spellbinders Large circle labels, the second largest.
Here is what your frame will look like. Now to emboss it.
Next emboss your frame using Cuttlebug's Distressed Stripes Embossing Folder.
Now go over the frame once more using PALETTE INK PAD HOT COCOA. See how that pops.
Score the back side of your 5 x 10 panel at 2 1/2 and 7 1/2 on the long side using your SCOR-PAL.
Here is what your gate fold base looks like folded on your score lines.
Place dimensional tape on one half of the frame on the back side...keeping the grain of the embossing vertical.
Center your frame on your gate fold base with the dimensional tape at the top.
Adhere dimensional tape to the bottom half only of your circle with your digital image on it.
Place your digital image circle inside your frame and adhere with the dimensional tape at the bottom.
If you like....you can print out a sentiment from this digi and place inside the card. Look how nice this looks. I left a 1/8" border all around. I made my sentiment panel in Microsoft Publisher using a text box.
Here is what your card looks like closed. The bottom of the frame acts like a latch. This fold is so cool. The bottom of the frame lifts up and the digi circle panel pulls down to open.
Here's a angled side view of how it opens.
Here's the inside when it is sitting upright. There are many sentiments you can choose from in this digital file.
I hope you now feel more comfortable using digis and will try them again and again. I know once you get used to it you'll love to use digis. And you can purchase them and download instantly. Enjoy your day. See you next time.
