I have to be honest with you and let you know that I'm not a big butterfly fan. So the Bold Butterflies Clear Acrylic Stamps and the Beautiful Butterflies Clear Acrylic Stamps were not on the top of my "To Get" list. But they are now!! See my friend Stephanie bought them along with the Bold Butterflies Die Set and she made the mistake of leaving them at my house! So they were fair game to play with...and that is what I did. I had soooo much fun that I think I will be ordering these soon!
So I found this card on Scrapbook.com and thought it was beautifully done. It is by LWeber1234 (thanks Lynn Weber for the wonderful inspiration!) Here is her blog if you want to see more aweseome beautiful inspiration!
So I decided to "lift" it or some people call it "case" a card. What that means is you take things from the original card and use it on your card. You can lift the whole card, basic design, color sceme, or just a part of it that you like. As long as you get some inspiration from the card then it is a "lift". Just make sure that you ALWAYS give credit to the original artist. I needed some sympathy cards for the church ministry so I thought this would be perfect. Plus it gave me the opportunity to play with the Butterfly stamps.
Here is my card:
SUPPLIES:
2 shades of coordinating cardstock and 1 patterned paper
Bold Butterflies Die Set - Set of 3
Bold Butterflies Clear Acrylic Stamps
Beautiful Butterflies Clear Acrylic Stamps
Designer Label Dies - Set of 3
Clear embossing powder
Heat Embossing Tool
Ribbon
Gems
Embossing/Cutting machine (I used the Sizzix Big Kick)
Adhesive
Step 1: Take a 12 x 12 sheet of paper and cut it at 8 1/2
Step 2: Turn the 8 1/2 side so it is at the bottom of your cutter. Now cut at 5 1/2. So you should end up with two cards that are 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.
Step 3: Fold one of the cards in half to make a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size card.
Step 4: Cut a piece of patterned paper to 4 x 5 1/4
Step 5: Take the x-static and dab it over the cardstock. This clever powder will keep the embossing powder only sticking to the ink.
Step 6: Ink up your stamp with VersaMark Ink. It will be clear and sticky.
Step 7: Pour clear embossing powder on stamped image. Make sure to cover it all.
Step 8: Heat up the image with a Heat Embossing tool. The image will turn shiny and that is when it is done. You don't want to go to long or it will burn the image.
Step 9: Now we need to make our template so we can cut out our image using the Bold Butterflies Die Set. Get a piece of scratch paper and place the die ridges down. Tape in place.
Step 10: Place the die on the cutting machine with the paper face up. Run through your cutting machine.
Step 11: This is what your template will look like.
Step 12: Place the template over the stamp image. Take a pencil and mark in the holes.
Step 13: Place die so the pencil marks match the holes in the die (die should be face down). Run through your cutting machine.
Step 14: You should have a beautifully cut out butterfly!
Step 15: Now to do our sentiment that will be on the front of the card. In Word type out the sentiment. For mine I used Edwardian Script ITC Font in size 24. Print it out on plain copy paper.
Step 16: Tape cardstock to the white copy paper. Put back in printer and print sentiment out on cardstock.
Step 17: This set comes with a plastic template. Place it over the sentiment and then mark the circles with a pencil. Run through your die cut machine just like the previous images above.
Step 18: Take a pencil or round tool and curl the butterly and bend it in the middle.
Step 19: Cut out a square that is 2 x 2 and one that is 1 3/4 x 1 3/4. Glue the small square on top of large square.
Step 20: Take 1/8 score tape and place on the back of the butterfly
Step 21: Place the butterfly on the squares. Punch a small hole in the top of the squares.
Step 22: Run ribbon through the hole and place the pieces on the card but DON'T glue anything down yet.
Step 23: Take 1/4 inch Score-Tape and put it on the patterned paper.
Step 24: Put the ribbon on the patterned paper and wrap the ribbon around the patterned paper. Glue the patterned paper onto the cardstock. Glue the sentiment down. Add gems.
So that is one way to use this beautiful bold set of butterflies!
Here is another way to use these beautiful butterflies.
I lifted our very own Tameko's card:
