Hi. Happy Tuesday Tutorial. Lisa here for Trudy who is on a short leave of absence. Recently a customer sent us an email requesting a tutorial on how to stitch on cards. So here I am today to show you some ideas.
This card uses french knots and sewing machine without thread.
My second card uses a digi image.....giving you a sneak peek at an upcoming image. I stitched over the word "Sew" by hand and made a border with my sewing machine using a straight stitch.
First I will show you a border idea. Sewing a border on your sewing machine WITHOUT
THREAD. Gives you a paper pierced border with evenly spaced holes.
This is my background panel that I made using NIGHT ECLIPSE and FRESH PAPAYA CARDSTOCK. I stamped my own background (I only needed the edges done) using BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES and FRESH PAPAYA PALETTE INK PAD. I used the Marvy scallop corner punch for my corners.
I made french knots for my sewing technique here. I used DMC Pearl Cotton 5 Thread and a size 20 Tapestry Needle.
This is my top panel for my card. I used the Spellbinders square scallop die and sponged the inside using TROPICAL MIST PALETTE INK PAD and the Tim Holtz Blender Tool. My butterflies are layered using the BOLD BUTTERFLIES DIE SET. I colored in my top butterfly using copics YR23 Clear Dollar Stamps color MUSTARD SEED, Y17 Clear Dollar Stamps color BEE POLLEN, YR31 Clear Dollar Stamps color FRESH PAPAYA.
For my second card I am giving you a sneak peek at a brand new digi that comes out March 15th. It is called SEW GRATEFUL. So this is my what my card looks like printed onto COTTONBALL WHITE CARDSTOCK.
Here is my front panel. I used my paper piercer and piercing mat to pierce stitch holes on the word "Sew" only.
This is what it looks like with the word "Sew" sewed on using the BACKSTITCH. I used three strands of regular DMC floss and a needle with a large eye...large enough for the three strands of thread to pass through easily.
It is a bit hard to see....but I stitched a border along the outer edge using my sewing machine and a straight stitch.
Here is the finished product. I cut out my spool image and sponged the edge. Then made a tiny slit (CAREFULLY) in the eye of the needle and slipped one strand of floss through it.
Here are more ideas from the Design Team:
