Hi. Good Tuesday Tutorial morning to you. Are you keeping up with us Designers rotating on the Tutorials? You've met Cassie and Kathy? Well...it is my turn (Lisa). I am bringing you ideas to use with the NEW SVG files.
Our latest SVG/PDFs designed by Stacy Morgan are:
CUTTIN UP FILE -BARREL SVG & PDF
CUTTIN UP FILE- WINDMILL SVG & PDF
***What are SVG and PDF files?***
SVG File - This is a file that you can use with your favorite cutting machine (Silhouette, Klic-N-Kut, Pazzles Inspiration, BossKut Gazelle, Black Cat Cougar/Lynx, US Cutter MH/LaserPoint, CraftWell's eCraft) and SVG program (we use Sure Cuts a Lot)
PDF File - This is a file that you can print out on your printer and cut out to create these fabulous designs!
Here is my Windmill sample I made using the Cuttin Up File -Windmill SVG file. I love how the windmill blade look embossed and sponged. I am going to share with you this fabulous recipe to make these yummy Molasses Cookies and how I made my Owl tag. Isn't he cute?!
RECIPE:
Stamps/Images: What A Hoot (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Cardstock/Papers:Worn Parchment, Night Eclipse, Cottonball White (Clear Dollar Stamps), Mischievous (My Minds Eye from Clear Dollar Stamps)
Inks/Markers: Memento Tuxedo Black (from Clear Dollar Stamps), Hot Cocoa Palette Ink (Clear Dollar Stamps), Copics YR07 Tangelo Smoothie, Y17 Bee Pollen, E31Toasted Almond (from Clear Dollar Stamps)
Accents/Tools:Windmill SVG/PDF (Clear Dollar Stamps), Designer Label Dies (Clear Dollar Stamps), Night Eclipse ribbon (Clear Dollar Stamps), Score Tape (from Clear Dollar Stamps), SCAL, Cricuit Expression, Cuttlebug, CB Houndstooth embossing folder, Dauber (from Clear Dollar Stamps), Sponge, Screw brad, Scotch dimensional tape, dimensional glaze, safety pin
Techniques:Treat box, tag, sponging, dry embossing, SVG
First I'll start with the recipe for these yummy cookies.
MOLASSES COOKIES
3/4 Cup Butter half Shortening
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1/4 Cup Molasses
2 1/4 Cups Flour
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Cloves
1 tsp. Ginger
1 tsp. Cinnamon
Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and mix. In separate bowl sift all dry ingredients. Add to butter mixture. Form into large ball and place in gallon ziplock bag or container covered. Place in refrigerator. Chill at least one hour.
Take dough from fridge and form 12 small balls (about 1 1/4").
Roll each ball in sugar.
Place your sugared cookie dough balls spaced apart. DO NOT FLATTEN. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes (or as desired). I like my cookies soft.
Remove them from the oven and let sit on the top of your oven til the next batch comes out. This is how they look right from the oven...a little puffy.
This is what they look like after sitting about 10 minutes. They flattened a little. They are nice and soft inside. Yum. Keep them in an airtight container or ziplock bag...if your family doesn't eat them all first. (Wink).
Now onto our Owl tag.

RECIPE
Stamps/Images: What A Hoot (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Cardstock/Papers: Night Eclipse, Cottonball White (Clear Dollar Stamps), Mischievous (My Minds Eye from Clear Dollar Stamps)
Inks/Markers: Memento Tuxedo Black (from Clear Dollar Stamps), Hot Cocoa Palette Ink (Clear Dollar Stamps), Copics YR07 Tangelo Smoothie, Y17 Bee Pollen, E31Toasted Almond (from Clear Dollar Stamps)
Accents/Tools: Designer Label Dies (Clear Dollar Stamps), Night Eclipse ribbon (Clear Dollar Stamps), Cuttlebug, , Dauber (from Clear Dollar Stamps), Sponge, Scotch dimensional tape, dimensional glaze, safety pin

Using this shape die from the Designer Labels Die set, place it upside down on your piece of Night Eclipse cardstock and trace around the outside edge with a pencil.

With a sharp pair of scissors, carefully cut out following your pencil lines.

Erase the pencil lines. Now you are set to use this as a mat for your tag.

Run the die on a piece of Michievous by My Minds Eye through your cutting machine. (I use a Cuttlebug).

It comes out like this.

Just take it out of the die and flip it right side up and Voila. I love this shape.
Sponge the edges with Hot Cocoa Palette Ink.
Adhere the patterned paper die shape on the black mat you made. Doesn't that look nice!
Stamp the owl from WHAT A HOOT three times with Memento Tuxedo Black on Cottonball White cardstock. Color the owls as above using Copic YR07 Tangelo Smoothie. You only have to fully color in an area that you will see when you layer the owl. The other areas you outline only so you don't see white underneath the layers when you adhere with dimensional tape.
Color in the yellow parts with Copic Y17 Bee Pollen.
Color in the brown parts using E31 Toasted Almond.
This is what they look like cut out.
Here are more ideas using the Windmill and Barrel SVG & PDF files.

Now sponge all the edges using your dauber and Hot Cocoa Palette Ink.

Place dimensional tape on the back of all pieces.

Assemble your owl and adhere to your tag base.

Now put dimensional glaze on the eyes, beak and feet.

For the tag cut a 3/4" wide strip of designer paper from the Mischievous collection. Stamp the sentiment from WHAT A HOOT set. Sponge the edges and adhere behind the edge of the owl with dimensional tape.
Punch a hole at the top. Knot a piece of Night Eclipse ribbon and add a small safety pin. Your tag is all ready to use!

This gives a better front view of my windmill.

Here/s a view that shows I have an owl on all sides. My cookies are tucked in the box nicely.

Back view showing the box.
Here's Stacy Morgan's sample. I love it with the pencils. What a great teacher gift.
Here's a fun one by Lorie Ames. Can't you see this as a center piece for a birthday party! Lorie filled hers with pixie stix.
Here's my sample using the Cuttin Up File - Barrel SVG file. I used my Scor-Pal to make 1/2" score lines all around for a wood plank look. Love how it turned out. I used just three side peces to go around the barrel and put brads in them. I also layered them three thick and then adhered. I used the pumpkin from AUTUMN BLESSINGS digital image. I printed out three pumpkins, colored them, cut out parts, sponged the edges and adhered with dimensional tape. I cut out and place the leaves to hide the vines you could see. I love this sentiment.

Isn't this gorgeous! This is Stacy Morgan's Barrel sample. She filled it with flowers for a sick friend.
Here is a look at Stacy's sample without the flowers. I just lover the pearl on the lamb's bell.
I hope you feel inspired today. Thank you for viewing my tutorial.
